Peter Deimel 


Engineer, co-founder and owner
Recording/mixing/mastering

Born and raised in Germany, Peter was fascinated by anything related to electronics and music from an early age. He later studied acoustics, electronics and communication techniques at the Technische Universität in Berlin and it was during this period that he met Iain Burgess in a recording studio and went on to assist him on multiple sessions across Europe. In 1992, Iain and Peter decided to create their own residential recording studio in France. Black Box opened its doors in May 1993.
Over the past 32 years, Peter has worked with hundreds of bands, involving himself in every session to help bands make their best possible records.

Sylvie Pichard 


Studio Manager

Sylvie first came to Studio Black Box in 1997 to record with a band as their bass player.  She and Peter hit it off and some time after that became a couple!
In 2011, Sylvie joined Black Box professionally. In addition to managing the studio and the booking, she looks after catering and accommodations for musicians.

Sylvie is still playing bass; currently with The Animal Objective. 

 

Etienne Clauzel

Engineer / assistant

In 2019, Etienne joined the team at Black Box as an in-house engineer and assistant.
He holds a master’s degree in audiovisual techniques and he also works freelance for the Philharmonie de Paris and as a live sound engineer for various artists.
